Drop Everything and Go

Random concert on a work night. GO. Get a text message last minute to meet up for dinner. GO. Wake up dreaming about the beach. GO. Don't think, just GO.

I have personally given up many opportunities over my life because I put too much thought into all the things that needed to be done or what I thought needed to be done, instead of just saying yes. Responsibilities will always be around. People, events, memories...these will always change. Saying yes- leaving the dishes, laundry, and house in disarray to GO and live life has been the most liberating experience I have had over the past year. It wasn't easy. Putting responsibility on hold was a bit challenging at first because I was so accustomed to doing what I have been taught my whole life by making that the priority. Now the priorities have shifted.
It all started with a friend asking me to go to a concert with her on a work night. Did I mention this concert was in another state and we were working out the logistics during the middle of the workday? T-minus four hours before we'd have to leave if we decided we were going. Of course, my first thought was, "I have work tomorrow." Then it was, "I have a three-year-old and family responsibilities." But, I also wanted to be a good friend and do something fun for myself. This inner dialogue was stressing me out. Mostly because I was conflicted about making a decision. I took a giant leap and said, "let's do it." I will figure it out as we go.
My husband held down the fort at the house, I packed an overnight bag, brought my work laptop, and jumped in the car with my friend heading into a night of memories I will cherish forever.
Just remember, life is too short. I encourage you to say yes and GO the next opportunity you have that comes knocking at your front door. As Marie Forleo says, "Everything Is Figureoutable."
